Here you can find information of each artist who will be showing at the next Roy’s People Art Fair including exhibitions, achievements and sample works.
I am a UK based, mixed media artist, graphic designer and photographer, with over 20 years experience in the commercial art world, working in both print and digital media.
As I grow older I am becoming more aware of the importance of living in the moment – not forgetting the past, but not letting it hold me back either. With this understanding comes a certain freedom and I realise I no longer need anyone’s permission but my own to make the art that I have always wanted to make.
I am heavily influenced by pop culture and draw inspiration from a lifetime’s (over?) consumption of mass media, audio visual stimuli and online information. I have always been fascinated by the power of visual media and it’s ability – and sometimes it’s inability – to convey meaning and to communicate vast amounts of information in a very short timeframe. There is a certain genius at play in the creation of an instantly recognisable brand, a memorable TV advert or an unforgettable photograph.
In my artwork I explore themes such as the passing of time, the recollection of memories and our use, or abuse, of visual language. I start with the idea and through a process of reduction I work to simplify the message and create as simple an image as possible. I like to use washes of colour, photographic elements, simple geometric shapes and repetitive motifs to make Abstract and Minimalist art, that is visually straightforward yet highly emotive at the same time.
Recently I have started to combine techniques and tools that I am very familiar with, such as photography and digital design applications (many of the assets I use in my final pieces have been created in various iPad apps) with those that I am relatively new to, like acrylics and aerosol paints. I’m excited to discover what new possibilities these unexplored media will open up and what impact they will have on my work.
I’m constantly making new work, so if you’d like to keep up to date, follow me on Twitter or like me on Facebook. You can also sign up to receive my newsletter via email or if you just want to drop me a line, I would be happy to hear from you.
