I am fascinated by people, What are they thinking? How are they feeling? By painting portraits of commuters, I celebrate that snapshot of time, which is often the only time people spend in silence meditating on the day.

Markets have been around for centuries, sometimes in the same place, people don’t change, everybody needs to buy things, only what they buy and how they dress changes. Psychogeography, history repeats itself, every inch of London has been inhabited by many people over hundreds of years, how does that reflect on the place now?

Painting the ordinary in life, whether it is a pile of rubbish or a poster plastered on a shop front, makes the viewer concentrate on how ordinary things in life can be interesting.

Watercolour does not have to be wishy washy, I applying many thin layer of watercolour to build up strong colour and create a painting which is full of both light and dark.
